If you could end a certain form of suffering in the world what would it be?

This is a hard question for me to answer, since there are so many forms of evil and pain I'd like to abolish. Starvation is the issue most profoundly on my heart today. Food is such a basic necessity of life and one that so many of us take for granted. The fact is, we can survive many other forms of evil but we cannot survive without food. There are, as you probably know from watching too much tv, children who starve to death everyday. It's heart-breaking!

What can one person do? Well, one person can support a starving child usually for less than $1/day. There are many reputable relief organizations out there that make sure the bulk of donations go directly to the needy and not to administrative costs. Check out World Hope, World Vision, and Compassion International. These three Christian relief organizations have lots of integrity and are serious about meeting peoples' needs in the name of Jesus.

Lenny, I don't like seeing people who suffer in pain and also people who battle cancer,I would love to see these things wiped out so people won't be in pain, often with various emotional pains too!. But Praise God all of these illnesses will be wiped away along with every tear drops God promises us he will collect and put them in a bottle. When we get to heaven we will have new bodies too! WOW WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE!!!!!

Sponsoring a child is one of the most God-glorifying and soul-pleasing things you can do. My husband and I have been sponsoring a girl named Allison from Peru for quite a few years.

For $1 something a day, this little girl is provided with food for her and her family of four and our donation also helps to pay for the Christian program she goes to where she is taught about God and God's word.

We write letters back and forth and pray for each other. The amazing thing to me is that Allison doesn't even talk about food when she writes. She writes about how grateful she is to be in the Christian program and thankful to be learning how to love and help others. This is only one child; there are so many more that need our help. Should anyone feel that God is moving your heart to sponsor one of His children, please log on to Compassion.Org and help a child in desperate need.

I agree that this is a difficult question based on all the different forms of pain and suffering. We are so insulated from much of the suffering, but must realize it is happening. I agree that starvation and illnesses are devastating and that compassion and support ministries are so desperately needed, and pray that more will offer their support.

I could not imagine not being able to openly worship our loving Savior. I would love to end the suffering of those who are being persecuted because of their faith in Jesus Christ. If this touches your heart, go to prisoneralert.com!

I've been thinking about this question all week...If I could end a particular form of suffering, it would be sex-trafficking. How tragic that children are hunted, exploited, and sold as objects. It happens all over the world (Yes, even in America.) and the effects on young girls and women are soul-killing. One site that addresses this form of suffering and tries to make a difference is http://www.sharedhope.org/

Sarah, thanks for bringing up this social issue of sex trafficking. Thanks also for pointing out that this is not just a global phenomenon, but a national and local one as well, that destroys the souls and esteem of women. I encourage us to become informed on this issue so that we can each find ways to make a difference. This issue will become more and more of an issue as we go into the future.

I would end emotional suffering. The kind of suffering that comes from rejection, abuse, neglect, abandonment. Sometimes people cause physical pain to their bodies to alleviate the intensity of the emotional pain they are experiencing - that is how deep and intense it can be.
