A Fun Question: What is the oddest Christmas gift you ever gave or received?

To answer my own question...I would have to say the oddest (or most stupid) Christmas gift I ever gave someone was given to Amy in front of her parents. We were only dating for about a year and her parents did not know me too well. Amy and I were both still in college. I spent Christmas at her house and on Christmas Eve we each opened one present. So, I gave Amy a gift in front of her parents; she opened it- there they were, a matching bra and panty set from Victoria's Secret. Her parents must have been shocked, though they hid it well. They knew I was studying to be a pastor, yet for some reason I gave their daughter underwear right in front of them! What was I thinking! I chalk this stupidity up to being in love. It wasn't until we got married two and half years later that I got to see the matching bra and panty on my wife...and, in the words of Forrest Gump, "that's all I have to say about that."

While I can think of a number of foolish and stupid things I have done, I cannot think of an odd gift at Christmastime. I do remember however, a very significant Christmas not too many years ago. Due to being very tight financially I was unable to give gifts to my family at Christmas time one year. I was heartbroken because it was something I really liked to do and I hated not doing it. God was teaching me to let go of things that were important to me and he allowed circumstances to prevent me from this joy of giving. But he had a wonderful gift he wanted me to have that Christmas. My 8 grandchildren were not even phased by grandma not being able to give them a gift. They loved me anyway and I experienced that love in a way that I would never have known. I am back giving Christmas gifts again, but I will never forget the love of my grandkids for me that Christmas time and the gift that my God gave me.

It will be very difficult to come up with a gift odder than yours, Pastor Lenny!

The oddest things I received were in those progressive gift exchanges. I received an electric chocolate melting pot and some other kitchen items. I stay as far away from the kitchen as possible, thanks to Anita!

The oddest gift I ever gave was a burn barrel to Lisa. The metal ones with the top cut out that you put in your yard. I had the kids spray paint it for decoration. She had just completed getting BSN degree and needed someplace to burn all her notes! We'll need another one in two years when I fianlly graduate with my BS in Education

The oddest Christmas gift I ever received was an old coin that probably belonged to some dead relative. But it is one of my favorite gifts because it came from my grandpa. It was all he had left to give as a gift because he and grandma didn't have any money to buy gifts and had to get rid of everything in order to move into the nursing home.
