How can you better prioritize your time to make room for God and for people?

It is so easy to get so busy, even busy with good things, that we run right past God and people in need of God. I'm going to make an effort to slow down and look for God in the details of my day. I am going to connect with God early in the morning in ways that help me stay connected to him throughout the day. As we enter into the season of Advent, I don't want to be like the innkeeper of the Christmas story who didn't make room for the Christ.

I think I can better prioritize my time for God and for people by being consistent in starting my day with God and remembering that the things to do on my list will always be there, but people will not always be there. Remembering that will help me not to see phone calls and people who happen to stop in as interruptions, but as divine appointments!

First I must slow down and take time to get to know Jesus better through daily bible reading and prayer and weekly worship. I will try to consistently start my day connected to Him.

When I make room for Him in my heart, and stay connected to him, I find it much more easy to find time to help others.

John 13:20 "I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."

May I accept and help those He sends my way!

I can prioritize my time better by doing what I am now doing starting my day off with the Lord in quiet time and prayer and not Facebook. I was getting a little carried away on Facebook but Im reformed now and have my priorities straight LOL!

Thanks for your honesty Maria...there is a reason why i have abstained from getting involved in Facebook...and you highlight that reason.

Thank you, Lord ! could not agree more, Maria and Pastor Lenny. My husband set us up on facebook and at first i thought it was great being able to communicate with and see pics of our family/church family/friends. But i am now spending too much time reading what others have to do/are doing today, are going to do tomorrow-and worse yet, did yesterday. The news online is another-- wasting too much time on these.
I am going to spend more of my quiet time in His word, praying for and waiting to hear what He wants me to do(today).

God has really worked on me in this area. I am a person who is big on organizing my time, finding ways to squeeze more things in 24 hours. I frequently think about how to structure the day so that I can be most efficient. However, God's work with me has been similar to tithing money. He wants me to start the day with him give him my day and ask him to show me how to use it. I have learned I must start the day with him no matter how busy I am and I have learned to set aside Sunday as a day of rest. I am more efficient more productive when I do that. God wants me to give him my time just as he wants me to give him my money.

I have been spending so much of my time reading for FLAME classes and have neglected by reading of God's Word for myself. I am working on not allowing myself to be consumed with all the tasks of the morning and to include God's Word before I leave for work. I now have a 35 minute drive to work which I was not happy about at first, but I have realized that it allows me time for reflection and prayer.
