Sermon: Clean & Fill Series- Fill

If we really appreciate what Christ, the scapegoat for our sins, has done for us we will want to fill our lives with more of Him. This message was designed to encourage and assist those who really want more of Christ but are going backwards and not pressing on in their relationship with Christ. The bible text I used was Philippians 3:4b-16, where the Apostle Paul describes his desire to know Christ and then his willingness to press on toward that desire with action. As we head into a new year, many of us want not only forgiveness for our past but life-change in the future. Paul highlights how life-change results when desire leads to action. As we begin this new year, first, I urge you to take stock of who you are and where you stand in your personal relationship with Christ. Then you need to deal with your past. Your past will distort the present. Junk from the past may block your relationship with Christ or cause it to go backwards. Confess to God and someone you trust. Pray for God to change you. The best thing I did in 2008 in dealing with my past and getting closer to Christ was attending Celebrate Recovery and the step study. Finally, press on to know Christ in an intimate way and take action by using the gifts and talents which God has given you and is calling you to use.
